Lazy Weekend Wear
I’ve been a little under the weather, so I apologize for the lack of colorful posts this week. I suppose this is a perfect time to write about my idea of lazy weekend attire. Bare in mind I live in Seattle where jeans are weather appropriate every day of the year…
Jeans, cons, oversized hoodies and sunnies. Nuff said.

Urban Fashion Vocab: Which do you like?
Sometimes when I can’t find the right word, I make up my own. According to my mom, I’ve done it since I was a kid. Though thinking back, I believe it was her that agged me on, for she was the one who taught me boys’ private parts were called ”pee pee ding dings”…no joke – my friends still make fun of me today! Sorry, a little TMI.
Anyway, I recently coined two new fashion terms which you may have already seen in my previous posts: fauxshionista and fashion-spiring. I’m probably not the only one in existance to ever scheme these up, but I am the only one who submitted them to Urban Dictionary…so consider them mine <evil laugh>…j/k.
If you like these words, click on them below (in pink) to give a thumbs-up at Urban Dictionary. You don’t have to register or anything, just click to vote.
Fauxshionista: 1. One who poses to know all there is to know about fashion; 2. a self-proclaimed fashionista with no real sense of personal style; 3. A serial style copycat who wouldn’t be able to get dressed without the latest issue of InStyle or Us Weekly. Use faux for short.
- EX: The sales associate at Nordstrom was such a fauxshionista!
- EX: All the fauxs are anxiously waiting to mimmick Carrie’s outfits from the Sex & the City movie.
Fashion-spiring: Anything related to fashion that inspires – a person, piece of art or outfit, to name a few (fashion + inspiring = fashion-spiring).
- EX: Chloe Sevigny’s fashion-spiring style has helped me take more risks with my wardrobe.
- EX: She stepped onto the red carpet in a fashion-spiring gown stealing the spotlight with camera flashes abound.
Here are a few other fun fashion terms from Urban Dictionary:
Fashionality: 1. one’s personality expressed in their clothing, ‘fashion personality’ 2. one’s nationality expressed in their clothing, ‘fashion nationality.
Fashionisto: The male version of a fashionista, some what of a metrosexual, alot of lables, alot of time spent in the hair studio, the “look” is everything.
Fashionate: One who is passionate about fashion, and keeps themselves ‘hip on the scene’ by continually updating their wardrobe to stay in step with the everchanging fashion world. these individuals are also able to comprise a hot outfit if given the right tools, no help required.

Clutch Look: Golden Locks Tweaked with Teal
I’ve always loved experimenting with my hair, but my fine/fragile strands can’t withstand constant color switches.
After deciding my look needed a little more edge, I thought it might be fun to add a few teal asymmetrical highlights (one of my fav colors this season). Along with the teal peak-a-boos, I got a full foil to freshen up my blonde tones for spring. Funny story about the teal dye my stylist used - it’s Manic Panic and I actually have the same kind at my parents’ house from highschool days (it’s the only kind of blue my hair would take)!
For those in the Seattle area, I highly recommend Erin at Seven Salon in Bellevue Square. She’s fun, edgy, accurate and quick…everything you could ask for in a stylist! It’s always a good sign if he/she is also an artist (thinking about one of my long time friends, Shae…amazing artist and stylist).
**Special thanks to my colleague, Liz for introducing me to Erin’s talents!
DIY Fashion Sites (from Trend Central)
Though I already posted some of my favorite reads for the week, this article from TrendCentral on DIY fashion websites deserves it’s own write up. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend subscribing to their newsletter.
From the article:

“For those in search of the perfect dress, StyleShake and Studio 28 Couture give users the option to choose a variety of fabrics, colors, bodice styles, skirt styles, and accents that can be combined to form a seemingly infinite number of looks. On Evlove’s site, women (or the men that love them) can create their own underthings. Users choose a bottom style (e.g. thong, boyshort) and/or a top style (e.g. cami, bralet), followed by fabrics, trims and appliques. Lest you think women are the only ones offered custom fashion, Bangkok’s Urban Tailor sells “DIY” men’s jackets. Customers can choose from three styles-the hoodie, the track jacket, and the “bandana” (a modernized version of the baseball jacket)-for which the colors, fabrics, trims, and even hood size and zipper style are selected with the click of a mouse. For those who need inspiration or assistance, a number of these bespoke brands sell a set of styles created by their own designers.”

Style Envy: Rachel Bilson
As a huge fan of Rachel Bilson’s style, I had to repost this look from Who Wore What where Rachel is out on a stroll with her bff/dog, Thurman Murman. She looks absolutely stunning, and her pup is pretty cute too…talk about fashion-spiring!

After picking my jaw up off the floor, I did some hunting to give you a head start on how to replicate her outfit. This look will surely take you well into summer (click on the image to find out where to buy)!
