Aloha from Maui!
I’ve been vacationing in Maui since last Friday, so I think it’s a perfect time to share my top two bikini picks for summer 2008.
I’m not a big fan of swimsuit guides for different body types, so I’m just going to tell you my picks and why based on countless hours (that would have been better spent at the gym) of searching for that “magical” bikini.
Pick #1: Vitamin A’s Superstar Bottom with back cinch is the Hanky Panky of swimsuit bottoms! All the tops that match are adorable, so take your pick!

Why (I have the hot pink): The gold hoops are curved and located in the perfect spot to eliminate side-pinching. The icing on the cake is the back cinch detail in the back. I never thought I’d find a suit so flattering and sexy at the same time.
Sizing runs a little big compared to other swimwear brands. I usually wear a medium on top and bottom, but with Vitamin A I wear a medium top and extra small bottom.

Pick #2: L Space’s Cleopatra top and Foxy hipster bottom are my other fav swimsuit combo for this summer.

Why (I have this style from last summer): The gold details on the top move up and down depending on what fit/coverage you’re looking for. The low-rise hipster bottoms provide full coverage and extra elasticity around the hips to reduce pinching.
Sizing is similar to most other bikini brands. I wear a medium top and bottom in L Space.

Doc Martens Resurrection
That’s right, Dr. Martens are making a comeback…specifically the lace up ankle boots which comes in all sorts of fancy colors.
Along with Gossip Girl’s Vanessa and British model Agyness Deyn, the revival has been supported by some of my favorite fashion bloggers and tFS regulars (tFS= The Fashion Spot). Here are some pics for inspiration:

There’s something about the grungy ugliness of these boots that I really love (think Uggs 5-6 years ago).

Wearing:
- Dress: Urban
- Tights: Nordstrom
- Boots: Dr. Marten 1460 boot
- Socks: Target
What are your thoughts on other Dr. Martens? I’d love to see some photos of guys wearing them so let me know if you’ve seen anything.
P.S. I’m off to Maui for a week or so but will post while I’m gone!

Cuteness at Crave Seattle
Last Sunday I attended my first Crave Party and I can’t wait to attend another. Next time, however, I will probably avoid going stag because it’s the perfect atmosphere to log some quality girl time with your bff’s.

Another lesson learned was to bring cash. I couldn’t buy anything because the only contents in my wallet were plastic. Boo!
Along with fabulous boutiques with drool-worthy merchandise marked wayyyy down, there were a couple of quirky booths that stood out.
L & H Designs
Candace Powell, owner/creator of L & H designs, showed off her adorable hair flowers and clips at the party. Though this is an obvious accessory for young girls, I can’t wait to submit an order for myself! On top of that, she uses Swarovski crystals in her designs.
Like what you see? Email Candace to place an order at CPowell@LandHdesigns.com.

Hookupz
Attention brides and maids! Hookupz are a little charms that represent a cliche “man on the side” like Juan the Pool Boy, Dan the Handyman and Harly the Biker, among others. You can clip them to your phone, bag or even your jewelry if that’s your style.
Got a bridal shower or bachelorette party coming up? These little guys will make for a fun gift, prize or even goody bag treat.

The Long Awaited Siwy Hannah Crop!
Dedicated to Cordelia…my “Siwy sibling” who is responsible for my new obsession.
Upon first discovering the Siwy Hannah phenomenon striking fashion icons like Kate Moss, Rachel Bilson and Sienna Miller, I immediately fell into a state of hopelessness…how could jeans that fit them so perfectly possibly flatter my short legs, long torso and flat butt?

Then I met Cordelia…a self proclaimed shorty who reassured me the Hannahs fit all kinds of body types and have a magical way of lifting and shaping the butt. Sold!
I decided to go with the Kiss color because I wanted to add a lighter denim into my wardrobe circulation for spring and summer.

In trying to track down the right size and color (and a possible coupon code), I connected with Jeanette of ShopManhattanite.com who not only helped me pick the right size but she also hooked me up with their latest coupon code for 20% off and free shipping!
With thirty minutes left in UPS’s workday on the scheduled delivery date, I started watching from my balcony for a big brown truck to stop in front of my building. Tick tock tick tock…finally! At 6:58 pm, I watched it pull up and bolted down the stairs to pick up my precious Siwy Hannahs!
The Verdict…
Though it’s not apparent on my face, I LOVE THEM! More deets on sizing, fit and appearance below.

I typically wear a 25 or 26, and per Cordelia’s and Jeanette’s recommendations, I ordered a 26. After trying them on and doing a few lunges, I’m confident 26 is the best size for me.

If you’re going for a looser look, I’d definitely go up a size or two.
They are super tight at first, but after a couple hours of wear, they start to give a little to the shape of your body.
Usually skeptical about smaller pockets given they tend to create a mom-butt, I’m very satisfied with the look and fit of my backside in the jeans.

My only nit has nothing to do with the actual jeans…but I have extraordinarily long calves and the tightness through the legs makes me feel like I have “porky-pig syndrome” if I’m not wearing heels. Na na na na no big deal folks!
Color:
Fabulous! It’s exactly what I thought it would be and perfect for spring and summer.
