Weekend Looks: Out, About & A Little Kooky
Surprise surprise, Saturday night’s outfit further illustrates my no-fail outfit strategy explained in my last post on belted skirts. Here are a few pics with some friends in Belltown’s best Italian restaurant, Tavolata.

Also on last weekend’s agenda was doing something INCREDIBLY touristy, but also pretty awesome…Ride the Ducks Seattle! They have them all over the US, but I must say I almost fell out of my seat when our driver, aka a sarcastic bald guy who goes by Captain Q-Ball, pulled up next to a flock of police officers and blasted the COPS theme song!

They “quack” me up! Here’s what I wore on the duck (definitely feeling pretty casual):

Wearing:
- Hat: Stolen from my boyfriend
- Tee: AA
- Cut-offs: Siwy
- Bracelets: H&M
- Flip flops: Report
Also, went to my friend Linds’ place last Thursday evening where we found some ways not to sport some of the latest trends with fringe, sequins, neon and mesh.
Cocktails and boredom lead to…

I have to give a shout out to Lindsay’s roommate Jen, who coincidentally is from my home town and had the same fabulous art teacher as me. We stole these clothes from her closet’s goody section to snap a few hideously spectacular candids.
Sound Magazine Fashion Event This Friday 8/22
I met a two fabulous girls (Marla and Noelle) from Sound Magazine at Fashion First a couple of weeks ago and just got an email from one of them about an event they are throwing this Friday, Auguest 22. “The Clash” will take place at Sole Repair Shop on Capital Hill in Seattle and begins at 8:00 pm.
The event will feature hot local boutiques including The Finerie (one of my new fav’s), Nuvo Moda, Retail Therapy, Bouncing Wall, Kick it Boots & Stompwear and Pretty Parlor (fun vintage boutique). Local artists Genevieve Pierson and Kristen Truax of Blush Photo will be showcasing their latest art works and local entertainment will be provided by KEXP DJ Darek Mazzone.

The event is $20 at the door, which includes a SWAG bag at the door with all kinds of free goodies, drink discounts and free cupcakes provided by Cupcake Royale (yum!)!
All proceeds will be donated to Arts Corps.
My Favorite No-Fail Look
I’ve been obsessed with full skirts since I first saw Miu Miu’s SS08 line last winter. In fact, belted skirts have been dominating in my outfit selection process. Here are two pics from the outfit I wore last Friday followed by two from the past few months:

Want to crook the look? Here’s some Polyvore fun with links to similar skirts:

Clutch Look: Where Hippie Meets Grunge
When deciding to wear this outfit, it was all about the comfort and I wasn’t planning on posting it. Though it’s not my favorite look, I think it’s a good example of clashing trends that appear to work well together.
The floral top, fringe sandals and braided hair give a hippie vibe while the plain tee and loose, rolled jeans are a little reminiscent of 90′s grunge.

Do you ever notice the Space Needle in the background of my photos? I live on a hill in Downtown Seattle, so it ends up co-starring in a lot of my pics. Love it.
Wearing:
- Floral top: Free People (2 yrs ago)
- Tee: James Perse
- Vest: AA
- Jeans: Joe’s (4 yrs ago)
- Sandals: Urban
How To Get More From The Same Dress
Since I haven’t had a lot of time to shop lately, I’ve been focusing my energy on wardrobe reinvention. Do you have a floral dress, or any dress for that matter, that you’re a littled bored with? Here are three different looks I’ve sported with one of my dresses:
1. School Girl: Belted with knee socks and buckled pumps
- Dress: Kate Moss Topshop
- Belt: Limited
- Stockings: Nordstrom
- Pumps: Steven
2. Western Chic: Layered under a ruffled vest with slouchy boots
- Dress: Kate Moss Topshop
- Vest/tank: Velvet
- Boots: Aldo
- Bracelet: Express
3. Tea Time: Worn as a blouse with a high-waist full skirt
- Dress: Kate Moss Topshop
- Skirt: Limited
- Wedges: Bebe
- Necklace: Urban
You might recognize looks one and three from previous posts, but here are some fun dress-up photos for the second version with my floppy hat.
