Just when I thought I was finally over leggings…
Sass & Bide caught everyone’s attention with their Black Rats legging that appeared on several models in their SS08 runway show (you may recall tidbits from Whitney’s role behind the scenes of the fashion show on The Hills). The leggings were not originally intended for mass production, but thankfully, the talented Aussie designers changed their minds.

The original Black Rats, made of satin, retail for around $150 – $200. S&B also just launched PVC Rats (leather/latex look) that cost about $50 more.
Lucky for me, MyCatwalk is selling the satin style for $145 with free shipping.
I just got them in the mail last week and am completely addicted.

For this outfit, I wore a white tee shirt dress from American Apparel under a black sequin bustier. To add color, I chose my dark red geisha BCBGirls pumps and topped it off with a red knit beanie (love this style hat right now).

$100 Siwy Jeans for a Cause
As some of you may know, I’ve been on the Siwy bandwagon for quite awhile now. All it takes is one pair, and if you haven’t tried them yet or even if you’re already hooked like me, now is a really good time to invest.
Founder, Michelle Siwy’s close friend Vanessa was recently diagnosed with cancer. In an effort to raise funds for her treatment and recovery, Michelle has graciously offered a free pair of Siwy jeans with all donations over $100 ($135 for international). Choose from the Marianne (my pick), Michelle and Emma styles, all of which retails for around $200.

More details can be found here: http://www.siwydenim.com/vanessa.html. Please pass the word along to help Michelle’s cause.
Clutch Look: A Softer Version…
In my last post, I shared how I sliced up a pair of black leggings and put them together for a rocker-esque look. If you like the idea of the cut-out leggings but want a softer look, try layering another pair of tights underneath.
For this outfit, I wore lacey fishnets under my DIY cut-outs with a black dress, plum sweater and my Steven mary-jane pumps.

By the way, in case anyone noticed, I finally stopped rebelling against getting my hair done and got the roots touched up.

DIY Slashed Legwear
I’ve been wanting to slice up a pair of leggings for awhile now (inspired by lots of my fellow style bloggers). Now that Halloween costumes are out of the way, I finally found the time to try this out last night. As it turns out, the entire project took me less time than it did to go through checkout line at Target when purchasing the leggings used specifically for this DIY.
You should try it too! Not only is it easy, but it also feels good to take a pair of scissors to your wardrobe sometimes…call it “wear-apy”!

Step 1: Choose your leggings! I recommend stretchy nylon/spandex fabrics to make for easier cutting. Mine were $12.99 at Target and are 80% nylon, 20% spandex.
Step 2: Slash them up! When laying flat, make one-two inch horizontal cuts up each side, about half way in. In total, mine have nine incisions on each side. For a more shredded look, make cuts less than one inch apart.
Step 3: Dare to wear! I wore mine with a red mini sweater dress and a leather jacket.

Another option is layering them over other colored or textured tights, which I’ll show in one of my next few posts.

A Very Clutch Halloween…
For Halloween, my friends and I went to Kell’s Irish Pub for a private function where funds were raised to help a baby in need of a heart transplant. Here is a round up of fun costumes from the evening:
Breakfast gone bad: Bacon, Egg, Three Lil’ Pigs and WOLFgang Puck
I planned out the picture above at least a week prior to the actual party. It can be summed up in three words: breakfast gone bad. On the far right is my boyfriend Jordan, who came dressed as chef WOLFgang Puck. Next to him is Maggie, the smartest of the three pigs who made her house out of bricks; followed by Lindsay who made prefers sticks and then me…straws. We were accompanied by Jess (a frequent on Clutch22) and her bf Donnie as Egg and Bacon. Long story short, WOLFgang wants to eat us all!

The Boobees!
Below is a candid of Travis and Heather, who crafted creative DIY Boo-Bee costumes. They were the hosts of the evening and doubled their donation goal for Baby Mia. Antennas off to them for combining a notorious party night with a philanthropic cause that could help save a baby’s life.

More favorites of the night:
Fireman, Egg and Fire

Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan!

Super Mario Brothers with their Princess Toadstool

Dirt Nasty, Captain Six-Pack and WOLFgang
