PostHeaderIcon Clutch Look: Shoes Make the Outfit

If you saw my recent post about the New York T-Mobile Sidekick event, you may have noticed the mint green Pour La Victoire Paige sandals I wore. At over $250, there’s no way I would have purchased them without factoring them into everyday looks.

To show why funky shoes are a good investment in my book, here is a simple black, white and denim look that would probably otherwise be boring if not for the touch of the green shoes.

Wearing:

  • Jacket: Zara
  • T-shirt dress: American Apparel
  • Leggings: American Apparel
  • Necklace: The Limited
  • Pumps: Pour La Victoire

I’ve been telling myself I was going to save for a classic designer pair of shoes, but always get discouraged when I stray toward edgy, sometimes even ugly, styles. It wasn’t until the green Pour La Victoires that I realized my preference for bizarre footwear. I suppose we learn more about ourselves everyday, right? Maybe that’s why I always stick to the same boring color palette for clothing.

Are you a shoe girl, a bag girl, both or neither?

  • It’s amazing how a pair of shoes can transform any outfit! I think the studs and straps on the green shoes really work great with the urban-ness of the denim jacket.

Shoe girl ALL the way. Though admittedly, since discovering Hayden Harnett purses, I’ve found myself actually wanting & loving them. Her styles are 100% my style.

Oh my gosh JD, I freaking LOVE these shoes! Why can’t we wear the same size!? Dangit!

  • Tara says:

    Aren’t these gladiators??

I haven’t seen them like this… Love them.. I bought a pair og gladiators in black a year ago..very chunky.. very nice!!

  • Jessica says:

I think these shoes are so rad. Lately I’ve been a funky shoe girl. You’re totally right, they can jazz up basics so easily!

  • Freya says:

I’m both. But I tend to go for bags more

  • JordyBee says:

Wow, thanks for already leaving so many comments before I even had a chance to log on today! You all made an icky rainy Seattle day such a delight. :)

Ashe – Haha, you’re like me – you love the details and personality of a product. I love HH bags too! Have you seen the Target bags? Maybe it was you that told me about them?

Nichelle – How did I know you would be a fan? Wish we were the same size too little foot! You have great taste in shoes!

Tara – I suppose they are sort of a gladiator hybrid. They kinda remind me of the Dior SATC sandals, but they have unique enough details that they didn’t feel like a knock off. I have a few other styles from last season too, LOVE them!

    Jessica – Thx doll!

Freya – We all have our weaknesses, haha.

  • Beautiful shoes. And yes, a funky pair of shoes is just a must. Take any old outfit and watch it come to life with a pair of awesome shoes.

  • Wow, I love the stud effect! Pretty, get edgy x

  • I did indeed notice them. I LOVE those shoes!

  • yvesmartini says:

im drooling over that chunky pair of shoes!

And I agree, these days, without a chic shoe, you can’t boot an outfit.
Your look is simple, yet very fashion-forward.

Pretty AND practical! It’s nice to see a pair of “edgy” shoes that are not black for a change! I was recently shopping and stopped myself from buying another pair of black ones. I am going to wait it out and find a nice bright color for a change :)

  • JordyBee says:

mayk – Thx, a little unlike me to spend over $100 on shoes, but it felt good to splurge.

    ClandestineChic – Totally!

    Frankie – Thx love!

Annie – Thx, they are right up your alley. :)

    yvesmartini – Haha, thx!

birdie – I got them at The Finerie in Pioneer Square. A little out of my typical price range, but they took amazing care of me.

dreamsequins – Pretty and practical – maybe that’s what I should have titled this post? Thx hun!
