PostHeaderIcon Clutch Looks: Vegas & Heatwave Attire

This summer has provided me nothing short of scorching weather, which includes a trip I took with the boyfriend last month to Las Vegas and the recent Seattle heatwave (record breaking) that made it intolerable to even turn my laptop on, let alone use it, in my non-AC apartment (it gets freakishly hot). Whether you’re headed for desert temperatures like Vegas or want to be prepared for a hot summer day, here are a few go-to looks that have helped me survive the heat without sacrificing style.

Dramatic Accessories + Simple LBD

A simple, lightweight, black dress with a bold necklace is my go-to solution these days. Aside from the shoes, the cost of this look fell under $50!

Wearing:

  • Dress: Bliss, approximately $30
  • Necklace: Aldo, $18
  • Pumps: Report Signature, gifted by Report, but they are on sale here for $147.

The necklace totally makes this outfit and I’ve probably worn it more times than I should. My coworker Lindsay is the one who told me about the necklace. She has the same one in pastel colors.

Coincidentally, we both wore it with a black dress on the same day!  She went for the LBD and I’m wearing it with a black maxi dress. Speaking of which…

Maxi Dress - Oh how I love thee

Maxi dresses have gone from comeback trend to summer staple. Could it be the fact they are PJ-like comfy, yet sexy at the same time? I love the Gypsy 05 styles (here’s a good deal on the yellow), but Target has a great selection that will only cost you around $30.

Wearing:

  • Dress: Skye, bought two years ago on sale for $69.99
  • Fringe sandals: Urban Outfitters, approximately $30

Just for fun…

While I wouldn’t recommend leggings in 100+ temperatures, here’s a funky outfit I wore in Vegas for a night out at Tao with the boy:

Wearing:

  • Sleeveless cardi: Anthropologie, $40 (on sale)
  • Tank: SPUN, $25 (I’m obessesed! They are like spanx tanks)
  • Leggings: I Heart Norwegian Wood, $80
  • Pumps: Report Signature, gifted
  • Bracelt: Gift from FreshJess

Special thanks to my friend Collette for the hook-up at Tao. We were literally escorted in.

What are your favorite looks this summer? What’s missing from your wardrobe?

Sheena – Thanks love! It’s hard to beat $30! Vegas was great, but I still feel like I need a “vacation.” Someday…

eyeliah – The leggings are highly recommended….Angie is amazing! The SPUN tanks are another fav/growing obsession.

  • Mariam says:

The necklace is my favorite! Definitely didn’t expect it to be from a place so mainstream as Aldo though!

  • BIRDIE says:

I like the leggings look in Vegas, because I’m generally too hot when we’re outside and sometimes chilly when we’re inside. I feel like leggings + skirt/tunic/top/etc really works in that scenario.

I dig the necklaces. I feel like the loopy scarf-things are a twist on that, and for some reason I’m not as keen on them as the big multi-strand necklaces. The necklace looks a lot more chic and refined.

Also, I am dying for a cute maxi dress….
