Thank you DList Magazine for selecting me to be featured as “The Blogger” in the first annual Young Seattle issue! Having met several bloggers in the area, it’s a true honor to have even been considered, let alone chosen. Special thanks to Summer Wilson, a talented and delightful local photographer, for nominating me!

Among the ten individuals featured in the spread was also a Seattle independent fashion designer, Suzanne Jaberg of Suzabelle (above on the left). Check out her latest pieces here - AMAZING!

About the shoot

This was my first magazine photo shoot and though it was a blast, I have a whole new respect for models! The only thing I was asked in advance was to wear all black, so I of course thought of ways to sneak color into my picture. I brought my mint green Pour la Victoire pumps and my Vivienne Tam HP digital clutch. I thought the mini notebook, which I won through my blog at the IFB Dress Up Soiree at the last NYFW, would complement the story they were trying to convey with “The Blogger.” Everyone seemed to love the idea, so it was cool to feel I helped ”accessorize” the shoot. For the dress, I wore a 1950′s vintage dress from Stella.

What made the experience even better were the people and the setting. AlixRose, one of my blogger BFFs, is a stylist for DList Magazine and it was really great to see her in action. She also kept me calm and confident during my shoot. Additionally, everything took place at Seattle notable Hotel Max. If you ever make a visit out here, I highly recommend it! It fully embodies the Seattle lifestyle, art and culture vibe; all packaged up in a chill boutique setting. If you decide to check it out, ask for my friend Jen Joyce and tell her you want to Twitter deal; she’ll take care of you.

Surprisingly, once photographer Jean-Marcus Strole started my shoot, it only took a few minutes! I am super critical of how I look in pics…hence the reason I always look away in outfit photos, but I am happy with the result. Along with Alix, fashion editor Kristen Puckhaber (aka Puck) was in the room and fashion director, Jenascia Chakos played a big role in setting up the shot. The experts knew exactly what they were doing with me. Dusty Bolyard is the model in both mine and Susanne’s features and his attire is from The Finerie.

I also have to give a shout-out to Sara Kendall, the makeup artist who got me back into vibrant lip colors, and Kermit Allen, the hair stylist who fixed the poodle-ish mess I walked in with.

Finally, I am attending the magazine release party this Wednesday night. I can’t believe the first Seattle print feature comes out just a week before I have to say goodbye to the place I’ve lived the past seven years!
