DVF SS10 – Cleopatra in the 21st Century
I was lucky enough to attend the Diane von Furstenberg Spring/Summer 2010 RTW presentation with Jennine from The Coveted, Crosby from PR Couture and Geri from Because I’m Addicted. The collection included a lot of pieces I could see in my wardrobe ranging from bright Egyption and Grecian inspired pieces to basic prints and goddess worthy cruise ship attire.

However, in order for a show to really catch my attention, there have to be a few WTF pieces I can fantasize about wearing. For me, those two pieces were a draped, fringe number so complex and fascinating, I can’t even describe it…

…and an amazing cream jacket that is best described when compared to those snowball coconut hostess cupcakes you buy at a mini-mart. I couldn’t tell if it was fringe, fur…or a little of both, but it was defintiely a delicious treat when it came out on the runway.

This might sound a little confusing, but part of my day job involves communications for Microsoft Windows phone (among other brands) and during fashion week, we announced the upcoming availability of special themes from some of the most well-known designers including Diane von Furstenburg. Talk about letting the lines between work and play intersect…I got to experience the DVF theme for the first time on a phone yet to be released during her presentation! The themes will be available on Windows Mobile 6.5 phones beginning October 6th. More details can be found here.

Finally, here are a few more shots from DVF’s presentation via The Coveted (click to read her review). When Jennine pinned the collection with ”Egyption Jinx,” she was spot on. The head pieces were amazing!

OOhh those outfits look amazing. I love Egyptian inspired anything…. These looks are totally wearable!
Birdie – I know, right? Thx for stopping by!
I’m not usually big on boho styling, but I love the worldly, gypsy quality of this collection!
I love the way the models’ hair has been styled so very much.

I love the fringed creation! It’s like…the Fifth Element meets flapper. Gorgeous!
She is such an amazing designer, every season is so unique, fun and totally wearable. Love it! By the way, that’s awesome you got to go the show!
It’s the WTF pieces that truly inspire. DVF always manages to give a mix of classic and wearable styles that play well with those runaway only looks. She’s a true talent!
As for the windows fashion themes… I love it and am suprised to see that their free!
