Bluefly’s Project Runway Goddess
Anyone excited for Project Runway to return tonight? I am so I wanted to do something special in light of the premiere. Bluefly Merchandising Manager and Project Runway liaison Mindy Dorf (also known as “Double 0 Dorf”…guessing she’s teeny?), heads up the ever famous Bluefly wall of accessories on the show (what a fab partnership). She was sweet enough to answer a couple of questions from yours truly.

C22: What are your favorite dual purpose accessories, i.e. a belt that can also be worn as a bracelet or a necklace that can also be repositioned as a belt?
Scarves, definitely — they’re so versatile. Not only do they look chic worn the customary way (tied around the neck), but you can loop one around your waist as a belt or wrap smaller silk scarves around your wrist. Try it!
C22: Are these types of accessories featured on this season’s Bluefly accessory wall? If so, what are some of your favorites?
I definitely included scarves in the Bluefly Accessory Wall assortment. Some of my favorites are…

From left: La Fiorentina fringe scarf, Kashmere silver silk blend scarf, Leigh & Luca grape cotton silk ‘Feathers’ scarf
C22: How would you recommend styling them?
I’d pair a printed fringed scarf—looped loosely around the neck—with a solid tank or tee, jeans, and boots. Such an easy, fun outfit that you can wear pretty much anywhere.
C22: Any suggestions for DIY projects with accessories you already own?
Easy. Break out your bedazzler or needle and thread and add some sparks with sequins, shiny stones, or beads. Beading can change the entire look of a piece. You can also add lace trim. It really depends on your style temperament.
C22: How were the accessories for the Project Runway Season 7′s accessory wall selected?
Really carefully and strategically. I chose statement pieces—oversized, colorful, and bold—and more “quiet” classic pieces. My goal was to give the designers a range of accessory choices to go with the unconventional materials and circumstances they’d be facing with each challenge. I also made sure every type of accessory Bluefly has was represented.
Special thanks to Mindy and also to Jessica from Attention PR for the heads up! Here’s a pic of Mindy:

Can’t wait to see the different accessories and how the designers use them!
