Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons Mammoth Cuff
After a long week, I decided to spend my Friday evening window shopping online and I’ve managed to entertain myself for at least three hours. I love the limitless possibilities that come with browsing different shops all over the world and occassionally I come across things like this mammoth claw cuff by Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons…things that make me lift a brow and scrunch my nose. I thought I’d try something new and share this confused moment with you to see what you think upon first seeing it.

So…what do you think? Is it cool, nasty, artistic, creepy or something else? Would you wear it? What if I told you it was made from fossils that are up to 30,000 years old? It’s not something you could really be lukewarm about, especially at a $2,950 pricetag, so I’m curious to see which of you love it, hate it and have mixed feelings.
Now that I’ve digested it a little more, I think it’s pretty cool and appreciate the offbeat artistry. Here are more details about the designers and how it was made from Bona Drag:
“An incredible collaboraton between Pamela Love and Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons. Claws are carved out of 10-30,000 year old fossilized siberian woolly mammoth tusk bark. the cuff is oxidized solid sterling silver, with 6 small black diamonds set as a triangle on the palm of the talon. Limited to 14 pieces, numbered in scrimshaw on one of the claws…comes with a 4 inch glass dome and black wood base display with laser engraving.”

I actually really love jewelry like that – nature inspired with a touch of creepy. That’s why I love Pamela Love’s designs. The fact that these pieces are made from freaking Siberian woolly mammoth tusks is pretty incredible. I wish I could afford to buy one!
I would sure wear it,
but I wouldn’t spend 2,950$ on it:)
I LOVE IT! And would probably wear it all the time. Though I certainly wouldn’t spent almost $3,000 on it.
it’s gorgeous! i love a little macrabre..these are beautifuly done too!
I LOVE it – pieces that are elegant but macabre are some of my favorites, and the fact that it’s made from mammoth tusk is pretty freakin’ cool too. Unfortunately, I will at no time soon be able to afford the price tag, so I’ll have to work with the jewelry that’s available to me!
I would totally wear that – it’s kind of creepy but very unique and understated enough to pull off with the appropriate outfit.
OMG…I need one of these!
