NYFW Backstage @ Mackage With Avon
This morning on my way to work, I trudged through the slush and frozen sidewalks to stop by Bryant Park for my first “official” Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week coverage this season. Avon was kind enough to invite me backstage at the Mackage A/W 2010 show to get a sneak peek of the models hair and make-up before they hit the runway.

According to Avon Global Stylist Advisor Tippi Shorter, who works with stars like Rihanna and Beyonce, the inspiration is themed around “the walk of shame” with hair slightly greased and loosely pulled back. She used Avon’s Advanced Techniques Smoothing Serum ($5.00) before styling to give it an oily, yet polished appearance; then finished with the Advanced Techniques Hair Spray ($4.00). Avon gave me a bottle of the spray last fashion week and I’ve been using it almost everyday ever since. It’s not something I’d use for a firm hold, but perfect for adding a little volume without making your hair sticky.

Make-up involved smoky bold eyes that almost looked as if they’d been perfectly smeared underneath and around. Here’s a close-up of Chrishell. I got to talk with her a little as Tippi was getting her runway ready and learned Mackage would be her first time walking down a NYFW runway. I hope she aced it! She was an absolute doll with a great sense of style (was rocking hot pink paten docs backstage):

Now…if only we could all look like these gorgeous girls when we wake up in the morning. Stay tuned for more fashion week coverage.
