Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards
Over the past year, fashion brands have begun to embrace and excel in social media, meanwhile other social media leaders have captured the attention of fashion bloggers. To recognize the top contenders, Yuli Ziv and the Style Coalition hosted the first annual Fashion 2.0 Social Media Awards and the ceremony was held at the beginning of New York Fashion Week. When I was asked to be a presenter for “Next Big Thing,” I was honored to be a part of the special evening.

Sponsored by ideeli and Lucky Magazine, other presenters for the Fashion 2.0 Awards included fabulous bloggers Michelle Madhok (shefinds.com), Lauren Dimet Waters (secondcitystyle.com), Julia Dinardo (fashionpulsedaily.com), Sarah Conley (styleitonline.com) and Gala Darling(galadarling.com). The top award was presented by ideeli CEO Paul Hurley.
Winners were announced in seven categories:
- Best Online Video: Chanel, Coco In Motion (27% of votes)
- Best Twitter – Donna Karan, @DKNY (38%)
- Best Facebook Page: Coach (52%)
- Best Blog: Free People (38%)
- Best Website: Kate Spade (48%)
- Next Big Thing: FourSquare (35%)
- Top Innovator: Burberry (42%)
I presented the award to Dennis Crowley from Foursquare, who later told me it’s up on his mantle next to his Tech Crunch “Crunchie” award! I’m SO glad he won because I had no idea what to say to the audience if I pulled out one of the other finalists. With Foursquare, all I had to say was – “I hope you’re all checked in here tonight…” yada yada yada.

To see it all up close and personal, check out the below video footage from the awards night:
As for my outfit, I picked up a cute little textured number by Rachel Rachel Roy at Macy’s (“Sexy 24 Hour Dress,” $109) and got out my thigh-high Jeffrey Campbell boots. The event was on the night of the snow storm and after foolishly spending an hour on my hair, it was turned into a mop as soon as I stepped foot outside. However, I used my new wax courtesy of Aveda (Light Elements Shaping Wax, $24) and it was the only thing that saved me from complete hair humiliation. Vyque from Fasshonaburu (we had a pre-fashion week slumber party) and I went to an Aveda Tweet-up the night before and they gave it to us. It helped me salvage my icy curls and maintain a little volume. I’m excited to try it on my boyfriend too…shhhhh!
