Vivienne Tam AW10: Origami Be Mine
I had the pleasure of going back stage to say a quick hello to Vivienne before her fall 2010 presentation this past Saturday. I’ve been a fan of her’s for a long time, but this was actually the first time we met…she’s even more sweet and humble than I imagined.

Her fall 2010 collection was elegant and feminine, as expected; but also involved sharper edges with layered textures, feathers, ruffles, ombre and more. Colors were mostly black, grey and neutral tones with hints of deep red. The fabrics, structure and shapes are what really tell the story of her collection. The first thing that came to my mind was romantic origami. Coincidentally, it was the night before Valentine’s Day. LOVE! See for yourself! Read the rest of this entry »
IFBCon @ NYFW: Tune In Live Today!
While bloggers from all over the world have made their way to New York Fashion Week, one of the most highly anticipated events doesn’t even involve a runway. The first ever international fashion blogger conference kicks off today thanks to Independent Fashion Bloggers. I have the pleasure of moderating the first panel kicking off at 10am EST on fashion blog marketing. Even if you’re not attending, you can peek inside the conference throughout the day because we are going to live stream at: http://heartifb.com/evolving-influence-live! Additionally, we have four bloggers planning to do live updates on their blogs – one during each panel (see below for more details).

We’re also doing a few giveaways to attendees at the conference. Windows 7, who will have an ”experience station” at the venue with new computers for bloggers Read the rest of this entry »
Front Row Live Streams @ NYFW
Several designers have publicized plans to stream live runway footage with a front row view during their Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week shows. Though bloggers are gaining more traction in the industry, there are only a handful who get actual “front row” treatment (cough…Bryan Boy, Susie Bubble, Tavi, etc.), some of us get seat assignments to most shows and the majority get a mix of seats and standing room…or just standing room…or nothing! It depends on the designer/PR.

Needless to say, opening real-time access to the world is a pretty cool thing. Don’t get me wrong, nothing beats the feeling of sitting close up, surrounded by Read the rest of this entry »
A Visit to the Cartier Mansion
I had the priviledge of attending the Cartier mansion on Tuesday for a special presentation with Cartier’s perfumer, Mathilde Laurent via Skype video conference to Paris. Let me preface by saying that perfume is the one luxury item I will always invest in. Who wants to smell like something cheap? Choosing a fragrance is a very intimate decision. What I didn’t know about french perfume in particular, was the artistry behind it. This experience was unreal! It was like wine tasting!

In French, which was translated by our host at the mansion, Mathilde walked us through the creation of Cartier’s Les Heures De Parfum. The collection Read the rest of this entry »
NYFW Backstage @ Mackage With Avon
This morning on my way to work, I trudged through the slush and frozen sidewalks to stop by Bryant Park for my first “official” Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week coverage this season. Avon was kind enough to invite me backstage at the Mackage A/W 2010 show to get a sneak peek of the models hair and make-up before they hit the runway.

According to Avon Global Stylist Advisor Tippi Shorter, who works with stars like Rihanna and Beyonce, the inspiration is themed around “the walk of shame” with hair slightly greased and loosely pulled back. She used Read the rest of this entry »
