PostHeaderIcon Banging Hair: NYC’s Davide Torchio Salon

In light of the Oscars last Sunday, I had the privilege of stopping by Davide Torchio’s fabulous salon on the Upper Eastside for an overdue and new do. I haven’t had my hair cut in over six months and I’ve been growing it out since October 2006 with 2-3 trims per year – no joke! If my hair had a heart, Davide would have stolen it. I didn’t intend on doing anything different, but he guided me to try out bangs and…voilà!

It took a little convincing since I haven’t had full on bangs since I was in 7th grade. When all was said and done, he definitely didn’t take me back to my junior high bangs and braces days. How’d he get me to take the plunge? He flattered me of course. Well, he said I looked like vintage Twiggy with defined bone structure, big eyes and freckles. He also explained I deserved to have a little more edge in my hair style – that was probably what did it. Totally right! My hair has been pretty simple for the past three years as I’ve been trying to grow it out.

If you live in or are traveling to New York soon, you can go to Davide’s salon for 20% off all services, which is a pretty amazing deal considering you’ll save enough to buy something new to wear with your new hair. All you have to do is call the salon at 212-737-3621 and mention you heard about it (you can say Clutch22 if you want, but no strings or dollars…just passing the word on). If you haven’t heard of Davide yet, check out some of his beautiful work here (Adam Lambert editorial shots - awesome!).

After he finished styling it, I asked for his opinion on make-up. If you’ve been following, you may have noticed an emerging obsession in funky lipstick. Hot coral was my most recent fav. Davide suggested something a little softer, so I went by MAC Cosmetics today and picked up the Liberty of London Blooming Lovely ($14) – amazing! Never thought I’d be this gaga over pastel lipstick! The rest of the LoL line is pretty incredible too…selling out fast, so get it while it’s hot.

Speaking of Liberty of London – they just launched a collaboration with Target. Read more about it from my girl Wendy at Nitrolicious.
