PostHeaderIcon Sketched: Gala Darling Inspired

More playing with water color pencils…I’m so in love with Gala Darling’s Twitter picture, I decided to use it for inspiration. What do you think? I’m definitely still a little rusty (especially with hands) and still getting the hang of water color pencils. It’s hard for me not to be critical, but the only thing that makes me think ”Jordie, you’re done…put down the pencils,” is knowing that imperfections are almost unavoidable with water color. You can only pain so much before you seep through the paper. See a bigger pic of the sketch after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon HP’s Sex & the City 2 Pre-Screening

Last night I attended HP’s pre-screening of Sex & the City 2, followed by a swanky after party at Bergdorf Goodman. Thanks to the amazing Vivienne Tam, I sported one of her colorful dresses from the Spring 2010 collection (what an honor! Thanks Amy for taking the pic of VT and me above). People kept taking my picture…which makes me wonder, either the photogs thought I was someone else, or they take pics of anyone who “might” be “someone.” Either way, it’s sort of flattering, but I’m definitely not a socialite.

One of my favorite parts about the evening? The people! I caught up with a lot of lovely bloggers/editors and some of my favorite, stylish PR girls. There were a lot of VIPs there as well. I am usually the last person to spot celebrities and even when I do, I act like they aren’t there. It’s probably because I spend my days as a publicist. Just after the screening, I was taking a photo of some friends and a woman Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon Live From HP’s SATC2 Panel

I’m at the Milleneum Hotel in NYC listening to HP’s design panel, covering fashion and tech in light of the Sex & the City 2 movie (going to a special screening later tonight…stay tuned!). The panel includes the following personalities:

  • Fern Mallis (former head of IMG fashion)
  • Vivienne Tam (I wearing a dress from her new collection and am carrying my VT digital clutch today)
  • Emilio Sosa (Project Runway season 7 finalist)
  • Kimberly Minor (Priscilla of Boston…uses tech for her bridal customers)
  • Sandy Cheng (from HP)

Had some wireless difficulties at the start, but I will update more later.

2:21 PM Someone just asked about how technology is integrated…Fern Mallis is talking about the curse of the “reply-all.” She doesn’t consider herself to be super tech savvy.

2:25 PM Vivienne is talking about technology and products. She says the most important thing to consider when selling is the design. It has to be appealing in order for people to purchase.

2:27 PM Someone asked if HP is exploring technology and clothing….interesting! Doesn’t look like they are heading that direction though.

2:30 PM The panel is wrapping…I’ll update with more thoughts later. :)

Off to photo stalk some of the fab attendees! Thank you HP!!

PostHeaderIcon Express 30 Years With Vogue + VV Brown!

I had the delight of attending Express‘ 30 Years of Fashion party last night, co-hosted by Vogue. Thanks Wendy from Nitrolicious for inviting me to be your plus one! Overall takeaway of the night – add Express to your next shopping stop and VV Brown to your playlists…stat! I’ve never been to an Express event and didn’t know what to expect, but I was beyond impressed with the runway show and entertainment. VV Brown…WOW! I’m about to download every single song. The video above is a little snip from her performance on the runway. Before VV went on, Express showed off some new looks. The DJ (not sure on who?) was Read the rest of this entry »

PostHeaderIcon The Dead Weather, Chicago, Tomorrow, FREE

This is work related, but too cool not to share…

As part of the retail launch for KIN, the new phones from Microsoft available now from Verizon, free concerts have been popping up the past two weeks where one juicy detail at a time is revealed through social networking. In San Francisco on May 9, Yeasayer put on a great show at the Longshoreman’s Hall and N.E.R.D. + Asher Roth took over European Collision Center (yes! an auto repair hub). Last weekend the KIN SPOT concerts hit NYC with Passion Pit at the Classic Car Club on Friday night, The Black Keys at the same spot on Saturday night and Read the rest of this entry »
