The Dead Weather, Chicago, Tomorrow, FREE
This is work related, but too cool not to share…
As part of the retail launch for KIN, the new phones from Microsoft available now from Verizon, free concerts have been popping up the past two weeks where one juicy detail at a time is revealed through social networking. In San Francisco on May 9, Yeasayer put on a great show at the Longshoreman’s Hall and N.E.R.D. + Asher Roth took over European Collision Center (yes! an auto repair hub). Last weekend the KIN SPOT concerts hit NYC with Passion Pit at the Classic Car Club on Friday night, The Black Keys at the same spot on Saturday night and The Ting Tings at the Alliance Community Center (think high school gym setting, basketball hoops and all) at the same time on Saturday night. The next stop is in Chicago tomorrow night…you have to follow the KIN Facebook page to get the final location, which will go live a few hours before the show.
A few of my favorites have been writing about the shows. Wendy from Nitrolicious and Yu Ming of Freshness Mag went to the N.E.R.D + Asher Roth show and got to interview the artists before they performed. Peter Ha of Techland hung out with The Ting Tings before their show and cool peeps from Nylon were present at almost every show. After the Ting Tings show, I got to hang out with Julia of Fashion Pulse and Amy of Midtown Girl to celebrate our lovely friend Yuli Ziv of My It Things (and a million other ventures – ultimate entrepreneuress!). My coworker/new bud Steph was in town and joined us at the TriBeCa Grand for ginger mojitos…amazing! We wrapped the night by stopping by another good friend’s, Jackson, birthday night out where a 5 foot tall douche rocket tried to pick a fight with a room full of dudes twice his size.
Free entertainment all night from start to finish! Doing it again this weekend in Chicago! Pssst…the last stop for the KIN SPOT concerts is Atlanta next week with Big Boi.
