PostHeaderIcon HP’s Sex & the City 2 Pre-Screening

Last night I attended HP’s pre-screening of Sex & the City 2, followed by a swanky after party at Bergdorf Goodman. Thanks to the amazing Vivienne Tam, I sported one of her colorful dresses from the Spring 2010 collection (what an honor! Thanks Amy for taking the pic of VT and me above). People kept taking my picture…which makes me wonder, either the photogs thought I was someone else, or they take pics of anyone who “might” be “someone.” Either way, it’s sort of flattering, but I’m definitely not a socialite.

One of my favorite parts about the evening? The people! I caught up with a lot of lovely bloggers/editors and some of my favorite, stylish PR girls. There were a lot of VIPs there as well. I am usually the last person to spot celebrities and even when I do, I act like they aren’t there. It’s probably because I spend my days as a publicist. Just after the screening, I was taking a photo of some friends and a woman was waiting to walk through without blocking the shot. I pulled the camera down and let her walk through because I appreciated the polite gesture. I thought to myself, wow, she looks familiar. I found out today it was Courtney Love. Wow!

I wore Vivienne Tam with nude fishnets and mint green Pour La Victoire sandals

As for the movie (don’t worry, no spoilers)…

Don’t let the fact that Ivanka Trump walked out after 30 minutes stop you from seeing it. You have to consider her lifestyle gives a jaded view on product placements/endorsements, making them stand out like a sore thumb in the movie. However, it wasn’t disruptive for me, especially since I know the first movie featured brands that didn’t pay a dime (Bag Borrow or Steal was written into the script and the company didn’t know until after!). Though not as good as the first Sex & the City, SATC 2 was a delightful, exotic escape with relatable issues among the characters that brought it back to reality. Miranda will surprise you, Samantha will make you laugh yourself to tears, Charlotte will make you think of your friends who are always there for you and Carrie will make you take a hard look at your love life…that and she’ll make you want to rock turbans and harem pants.

Major props to HP for throwing such a beautifully executed event from the themed movie treats to photo booth fun and stylish product integration without taking away from the Carrie vibe. I love how they are marketing to women through pop culture and they definitely have the goods to back it up. The product placement for HP is less obvious than everything else I saw, which is nice because obvious can easily equal annoying. Stay tuned for my review of the Vivienne Tam mini 2010, featuring Beats music software, Windows 7 and HP Quick Connect (psst…you can turn the screen into a mirror!).

You look gorgeous! You need to tell me about your lipstick. OMG and your sandals are amazing. I live through you a bit as you are originally a northwest blogger.

You are such an ‘it’ girl – I love it!

I can’t wait to see the movie. Sometimes I am bothered by blatant product placement but that is very cool/interesting that it wasn’t the case for the first film. It is also really cool that so many bloggers seem to have been tapped to plug & promote the movie.
