I posted last week about celebrating my birthday, which was July 3, in Seattle. Last Saturday I celebrated with my NYC friends at a cool, divey lounge in the East Village. Despite the disgusting humid heat that had me melting in the subway while en route to meet the fabulous Yuli Ziv for pre-bday dinner, I was pretty excited about my outfit. You know when you find a look, not necessarily planned or intentional, that makes you feel so…you? It’s a rare thing, but love when it happens! This was basically my wardrobe translation of the 4th of July (minus the sparkles) and it brings together my favorite pieces, new and old.

WEARING:

SHOES: I finally wore my Miu Miu swallow satin pumps that I told you about last spring!

SKIRT: Also, I wrote about the skirt in spring 2008, which was Miu Miu SS08 inspired via Topshop, except this time I’m wearing a pettiskirt underneath to give it more volume.

TOP: I finally got my hands on the new SPUN Fanciful & Frilly corsage beater tank a little over a week ago (obsessed) and loved the way the color contrasted with the navy in the skirt. It’s available online for $34 here.

NECKLACE: Last but not least, the necklace is a snag from Anthropologie thanks to Grandma Babe’s generous gift certificate. I bought it in person, but it’s also available online for $48.
