American Living: Made for Brunch with the Girls (plus $250 Gift Card Giveaway)
You might recall the behind the scenes post I wrote last week about my American Living for JC Penney shoot. Well, here it is! The video plays on the American Living “Made for….” campaign and highlights my favorite moment of every week – catching up with my girlfriends over brunch. In this case, I invited Amy from Midtown Girl and Julia DiNardo from Fashion Pulse. Yuli of My It Things/Style Coalition (producer of this project) and Jennine from The Coveted (she was the fab photog) joined us after we were done shooting.
Psst…to enter the $250 gift card giveaway, leave a comment here with your “Made For” moment and what you would wear from the American Living collection (more details below).

What I especially love about the white eyelet dress I wore from the American Living summer collection is that in addition to being cute and versatile, it’s lightweight enough to sit outside at brunch without turning into a hot sticky mess. I was a little worried about it during the filming because it was over 90 degrees with no breeze…but no sweat!
The best part about the footage of us at brunch was we didn’t even realize we were being filmed until he was almost done! Special thanks to Candela Candela in the East Village for letting us take over a few tables on the patio.
As mentioned in my previous post, nine other amazing style bloggers designed their own “Made for…” American Living segments. Mine is the last in the series, but here are all 10 in order:
- What I Wore: Made for a morning cup of coffee
- Style Bakery: Made for doing it all
- The Budget Babe: Made for shopping at the farmer’s market
- Gala Darling: Made for enjoying the fresh air and sunshine
- The Coveted: Made for riding my bike
- Corporette: Made for a power play
- StyleMom: Made for a play date
- SecondCityStyle: Made for shopping in the city
- College Fashion: Made for date night
- Clutch22: Made for brunch with the girls

Okay, looks like someone should start (hehe) –
My look is made for summer picnics at Gasworks Park, with a view of Seattle.
http://bit.ly/92YTgG (white button capris)
http://bit.ly/aZBbYS (red and white striped top)
Oo, I would totally wear this: http://bit.ly/9tNWJd
And it’s totally Made For looking chic at the office
What an adorable video!
The look I would chose is pretty straight forward “American” style with a twist. My outfit is Made For running from the office on a Friday afternoon to a alternative concert in downtown Seattle.
I would pair this striped red and white shirt with a white pencil skirt (or capri pants http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=18bdf07&DeptID=70660&CatID=70662&PCatID=70660&SO=0&CatSel=4294953016%7cbottoms&Ne=4294957900+598+5+23+3+29+585+596+593+1010+1011+1031+18+904+949+833&CatTyp=RLE&Dep=AMERICAN+LIVING&N=4294953016&Pcat=AMERICAN+LIVING&Cat=womens&Nao=0&PSO=0&CmCatId=70660|70662) at work and then switch it do denim cutoffs, booties or flats and a green military jacket with some metal/chain insprired jewelery for the concert: http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=192a0ba&DeptID=70660&CatID=70662&PCatID=70660&SO=0&CatSel=4294953017%7ctops&Ne=4294957900+598+5+23+3+29+585+596+593+1010+1011+1031+18+904+949+833&pagesize=1&CatTyp=RLE&Dep=AMERICAN+LIVING&N=4294953017&Pcat=AMERICAN+LIVING&Cat=womens&Nao=0&PSO=0&CmCatId=70660|70662
What fun! time to go shopping
Love the ring. Is that bracelet in the video Persona?
My “made for” moment is wearing an American Living S/S Cardigan and jeans, looking out the window of a nice little Bed & Breakfast in Vermont, admiring the fall foliage and sipping some hot chocolate.
My made for moment is a Sunday evening on my ritual evening walks with my beloved husband.Holding hands and enjoying the slight breeze from the lake that is a few blocks away from our house.
Wearing this:V-Neck Empire Waist Dress-Cobalt
that would make it a perfect made for moment!
jacksoncrisman@yahoo.com thanks
i love your video!!!
my made for moment would be going to the park with my little nephews, they are so adorable! i would wear the “eyelet peasant top” in yellow, and tan shots, with a brown belt and brown oxford shoes.
My made for moment is reading in bed on the weekends! I love the American Living Solid Ruffle Solid Top in Grove Orange. So pretty!
My made for moment is taking a trip down to the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs, FL (http://www.spongedocks.net/).
From the American Living collection I would wear the “Stripe RuffleTop”. It has that nautical appeal that would make me fit right in with the atmosphere. It looks light and that is definitely a benefit when strolling in the hot FL sun.
Thanks for the fun contest!
I’d wear the Gathered dress – black multi dot.
Made for day to night elegance on a warm summer’s day.

My Made-For moment would be for lunch with a classy gentleman… I’d pair the Roll Sleeve shirt in white with the floral print skirt. It’d be soft & feminine but classy.
My made for me moment is anything that makes my little toddler break out in genuine laughter. I’d be wearing the yellow ruffle henley with the floral print skirt.
My ‘Made for’ moment would be Sunday brunch with my husband. It’s the calmest part of my week and, if it’s sunny, we take our newly adopted Pomeranian puppy Piper with us to eat on a patio. I’m wear printed ballet flats, my perfectly worn in (slightly ripped up) jeans, and the ruffled henley from American Living- so cozy!

My husband and I work different hours, so we don’t get to see each other during the week very often. So we like to have a dinner date on the weekend to spend time together. For my ‘date night’ I would wear this eggplant dress:
http://bit.ly/cN3wyk
And I would pair it with these accessories to give the look a little ‘edge’ (I know these aren’t American Living items, but they are still from JCP!):

i LOVE that this whole outfit is less than $100!
“Made for a Picnic”
Hi, my name is Akemya and my ” made for ” moment is inspired by my prom this past june. Growing up I was always the “poor kid” I never attended school dances or even parties because my family could not afford to buy formal dresses. Because of that I was absolutely shocked when I came home from church and found a one shoulder elegant floor length royal blue dress with a pair of pearls and a note attached laying on my bed. I picked up the note and began to realize I was being asked to prom by one of the greatest guy I have even known: my daddy. He had spent almost all of his savings on new shoes, a dress, and a make over from sephora all for me. As I sat on my bed that night with my hair and make up done I realized I was one of the luckiest girls in the world. I may not have been the prettiest or richest girl but that night I felt like a million bucks. I would have something that night their tile print nice flowy sun dress in teal paired with some adorable yellow flats and one of their large boho inspired handbags. I would lather in sunthat most of those girls wouldn’t have in a lifetime; true love. So if I could choose something to wear from the American living collection it would be screen, grab a huge pair of sunglasses, fill my bag with sandwiches and lots of good things to eat, and invite my dad to a picnic. I would take that chance to let him know I appreciate everything he has sacrificed for me. I love my dad more than anything and it would feel so good to share my “made for a picnic in the park” moment with him.
YOU are fabulous… absolutely fabulous.
I would choose the JCP V-Neck Empire dress, because it is “made for” going out to dinner. That comfy fabric would stretch if I ate a little too much! It would be so elegant paired with pearls and a pashmina shawl. Thanks for offering this sweepstakes!

Just realized I goofed when it came to typing my own name correctly. Oops.

Even though I missed this contest, I’m glad I found this site. It’s pretty cool what you offered people. I just wanted to say you look gorgeous and I wish I could be a model someday!
