Fashion’s Night Out Events Revealed – Over 100 Cities Confirmed!
The initial list of Fashion’s Night Out 2010 participants has been revealed. The second annual global celebration of shopping will commence on September 10 in over 100 cities with over 1,000 brands ranging from independent brick and morter shops to big guns like Bergdof Goodman and Marc Jacobs. This falls at the beginning of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, which takes place September 9-16. Accoding to Diane von Furstenberg, notable designer and president of CFDA:
Fashion’s Night Out the second time around will be bigger and better. Designers and retailers are really outdoing themselves to create wondergul experiences for shoppers, not just in New York, but all across the country, too.
As Diane noted, even if you’re not in New York, you can still partake in the amazingness in a city near you. Here’s how:
- Check the list of worldwide cities at (shout out to Seattle and Portland peeps!): http://www.fashionsnightout.com/fno-elsewhere/
- Fashion’s Night Out also offers a special collection of apparel where 40% of the proceeds are given to the New York City AIDS Fund. Check out the collection at: http://www.fashionsnightout.com/collection/
- Tune in to CBS for a special show on the making of Fashion’s Night Out on September 14 at 10 PM EDT.
If you’re in New York or are considering a trip, you can also purchase tickets to the first Fashion’s Night Out Fashion Show, produced by Vogue and SPEC Entertainment, which will take place on September 7 at Lincoln Center. You can find out more info and purchase tickets here.
Finally, here’s some more info on how sponsors are getting involved to make this FNO even bigger than the first:
Ultimate Payback: Save the date! Starting August 30, American Express Cardmembers will be able to register their cards online at www.americanexpress.com/entertainment to receive a $100 statement credit when they spend $500 or more at participating retailers, including Tory Burch, DVF, Intermix, Theory, Helmut Lang, and Domenico Vacca during Fashion’s Night Out and get their shop on in style!
Beautiful Music: The Meatpacking District is guaranteed to be hopping when spokesmodel Charlotte Kemp Muhl and band mate Sean Lennon from The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger play DJ at Maybelline New York’s hot spot on September 10. In addition to free mini-makeovers, the first 50 shoppers to arrive at the site will receive a limited-edition makeup bag filled with cosmetics by fashion designer Michael Angel.
Hitch a Free Ride: Back by overwhelming demand, Payless ShoeSource is again bringing shoppers the “Official Ride of Fashion’s Night Out,” looping between Central Park and SoHo and stopping at key shopping locations throughout Manhattan. Look for the decked-out Fashion’s Night Out and Payless-branded double-decker buses by Gray Line cruising about the city, and save your valuable energy for shopping, not walking.
Live from NYC: QVC is scheduled to have one of its largest broadcast and multimedia events live from NYC during FNO, with special programming throughout the city. Watch some of your favorite celebrities and designers as they are interviewed during the celebration and who knows, maybe you’ll end up on camera too! Visit www.qvc.com/FashionsNightOut
Private Journey: If you’ve ever dreamed of having your own car and driver when you shop in New York City then you’re in luck. Volkswagen will have a fleet of vehicles including the highly anticipated, all-new 2011 Jetta on hand to transport shoppers to and from the hottest neighborhoods in style. Just present a shopping receipt from any one of FNO’s participating retailers at designated locations and hop inside. For more information visit www.vw.com.
