Banging Hair: NYC’s Davide Torchio Salon
In light of the Oscars last Sunday, I had the privilege of stopping by Davide Torchio’s fabulous salon on the Upper Eastside for an overdue and new do. I haven’t had my hair cut in over six months and I’ve been growing it out since October 2006 with 2-3 trims per year - no joke! If my hair had a heart, Davide would have stolen it. I didn’t intend on doing anything different, but he guided me to try out bangs and…voilà!

It took a little convincing since I haven’t had full on bangs since I was in 7th grade. When all was said and done, he definitely didn’t take me back to my junior high bangs and braces days. How’d he get me to take the plunge? He Read the rest of this entry »
A Visit to the Cartier Mansion
I had the priviledge of attending the Cartier mansion on Tuesday for a special presentation with Cartier’s perfumer, Mathilde Laurent via Skype video conference to Paris. NYFW Backstage @ Mackage With Avon
This morning on my way to work, I trudged through the slush and frozen sidewalks to stop by Bryant Park for my first “official” Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week coverage this season. Avon was kind enough to invite me backstage at the Mackage A/W 2010 show to get a sneak peek of the models hair and make-up before they hit the runway.

According to Avon Global Stylist Advisor Tippi Shorter, who works with stars like Rihanna and Beyonce, the inspiration is themed around “the walk of shame” with hair slightly greased and loosely pulled back. She used Read the rest of this entry »
Grin & Hair It: Secrets Revealed
It’s funny how a change in environment can make you do things you never thought you would…wear Uggs with work outfits on a regular basis while allowing dust to build up on your favorite pumps, consolidate handbag contents into laptop bag, forego $300-plus hair treatments for $10 at-home-from-a-box treatments…GASP! Yes, believe it or not, I have not had my hair professionally done since moving to New York about five months ago!
Before…

So here’s why I took the plunge in going from ultra chic-salon to temporarily stained forehead in my bathroom Read the rest of this entry »
