Clutch DIY Halloween 2010 Costume Series
Who wants to spend a ton on a Halloween costume you might never wear again? It’s tempting because it’s not like anyone wants to have a lame costume, right? Well, I’ve made it a point to put costumes together the past few years that involves buying pieces I can wear beyond the costume, or better yet, things pulled straight from my closet. In an effort to share the countless hours of brainstorming I’ve already done, I’m doing a series of posts this week with last minute costume ideas comprised mostly of things you’ll be able to wear again and again.
Last year, I decided the night before Halloween I wanted to dress up and came up with a DIY X-Men Storm costume where everything but the wig came from my closet. By the way, wigs are a good starting place if you’re trying to think up ideas. The year before, I did DIY three little pigs with two of my bff’s Linds and Maggie. My boyfriend was a chef and a couple of friends went as bacon and egg. The photo caption read “breakfast gone wrong.”
Also, pre-Clutch22 in 2006, I went as Kimber from Niptuck…photo after the jump!

Captain Morgan and First Mate Marisa Miller Take Las Vegas
Last weekend, Captain Morgan hosted a party at Haze nightclub in Aria Las Vegas, welcoming Victoria’s Secret supermodel Marisa Miller as his new First Mate. Thanks to my new job (working with the Captain Morgan brand), I was lucky enough to attend in person. It was my first time meeting the Captain and I was blown away by his ability to take command of the entire club – life of the party wherever he goes. Marisa was stunning and sweet, wearing a slick and sparkly Herve Leger bodycon mini dress and Rock & Republic shoes.
At the party, the duo unveiled the “Welcome to the Captain’s World” video, where Marisa rocks her sword fighting skills. Check it out after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
When Bloggers Dine…
Last week, I had dinner with Jennine from The Coveted and Wendy of Nitrolicious. Over diet cokes and mac & cheese at Schillers on the Lower Eastside, we recapped the good, bad and ugly moments of fashion week, among other non-blogger topics. Wendy’s birthday is today, so I thought I’d dedicate this as a shout-out to her. I’ve gotten to know her pretty well over the past two years and she’s one of my favorite people in NYC. She is also responsible for introducing me to various new food addictions – the girl has good taste…literally!
If you have a minute, send her birthday wishes by commenting on her site. Here’s another (scary of me) pic!

Cocktails & Couture Party
What do Fashion Week goers do for fun outside the hours of the runway shows inside the tents? Fabulous cocktail parties, of course! Some might say sleep, but in all honesty, sleep always gets last priority. Kristin Booker (a dear blogger friend of mine over at Fashion Style Beauty) and Lianne Farbes (aka The Makeup Girl) hosted their annual Cocktails & Couture party last Saturday night at the Ted Gibson salon. What a great place for a glitsy gathering?!
First of all, the hostesses had their hair done by stylists at the Ted Gibson salon and they both looked amazing. During the party they had a make-up artist and two manicurists too! Let’s not forget the Read the rest of this entry »
Say Cheese for New York Fashion Week!
I try not to take fashion week too seriously…or even blogging for that matter. The reason I started Clutch22 was a selfish quest for happiness and though it’s grown to be more than an occasional hobby, the whole point is to have fun with it. That said, I felt this was worthy of a post and a few laughs.
This guy showed up to the tents at 9am, dressed like a Sonny and Cher combined into one body. He was patrolling the courtyard for photo and Twitpic opportunities. Apparently he does this every season. Cheers to you, weird old guy!
