Clutch Look: Shacker Chic
I love playing dress up in mens clothes, but my boyfriend’s closet full of XL doesn’t exactly compliment my 5’5″ frame. What’s a girl to do? I could either get a smaller boyfriend (think TomKat) or buy my own mens clothes. So…a couple of days ago I picked up a mens shirt and tie from American Apparel.

I wore them yesterday with skinny jeans and pumps to add a feminine touch. My friend Shel commented on how the messy hair perfectly illustrated a “shacker” inspired look. For those who don’t know what shacking means – go check out Greek row on a college campus around 6am.

Wearing:
- Men’s shirt and tie: AA (shirt looks white, but it’s light gray)
- Jeans: Forever 21
- Pumps: XOXO
For The Guys: Cool Color Palette For Fall
When browsing through my favorite thread in the Fashion Spot forums (where people post pics of their outfits), it’s always exciting to see cool outfits from guys, especially Neo. If I were a dude, I’d totally dress like him!
His outfit today included gray/silver tones mixed with navy and a touch of orange…amazing color combo!
I’m also a huge fan of his silver nylon blazer (by Drykorn), but if it’s too funky for your taste, go with a traditional gray fabric. Here’s an outfit I put together using this as inspiration. I couldn’t find an orange belt, but red works too.

- Blazer: Topman
- Thermal: American Apparel
- Trousers and belt: Urban Outfitters
- Shoes: Vans (via Zappos)
- Watch: Diesel (via Nordstrom)

Topshop.com Launches US Site!
Topshop has officially launched their US online store along with Kate Moss’ new F/W collection. Stay tuned for the first US-based store to open this November in NYC.

It’s a little bittersweet because ordering directly from Topshop UK made me feel like I was shopping from a secret source. Not many are patient or daring enough to order clothing they’ve never tried on from overseas…let alone willing to pay the $20 minimum shipping charge. All that aside, I’m still excited to have one of my favorite online retailers at my fingertips…no more waiting three weeks for shipments!
Topman, Topshop’s mens store, also launched their US site. Check it out guys!
**Thanks Pete for the heads up!
Retail Booze-tiques
More and more retailers are looking to provide unique shopping experiences by offering more than just dressing rooms and checkout counters. Big name department stores have been on this for decades, but here are a few recent examples:
A couple of weeks ago, J.Crew opened an exlusive men’s boutique inside an old liquor store bar in Tribeca.

It’s a pretty cool concept given they were able to preserve the setting and appearance of the former bar going as far as keeping alcohol bottles on the shelves. Don’t let the atmosphere mislead you, the only items actually served on the menu are clothes and accessories.

In a similar but more realistic fashion, Dylan Lauren (daughter of Ralph) is opening a full service bar on the third floor of her NYC sweet spot, Dylan’s Candy Bar, this fall.

Equipped with peppermint swirl swivel stools, the bar will offer a “Sweet Hour” nightly aiming to quench your thirst and satisfy your sweet tooth with luscious Gummy Bear Martinis.

For the Guys: Inspiration From Topman
I’m fashion-ated by Topman’s (Topshop’s male counterpart) new video showcasing their latest line of skate-inspired menswear. Not only do I have to share this with the wonderful guys who stop by here…but also with all of the ladies who help their boys shop…and with quirky girls like me who like to see chicks sporting mens clothing.
Click here to shop for the items shown in the video.
Alright guys…you know who you are…Peter, Tommy, Matt, Joe, Travis and Rickey, to name a few…don’t be shy. What do you guys think of this clip? I want to bring you more mens posts…so tell me what you like.
