AMSB Challenge #4: Red English Plaid Top
The fourth challenge (out of five) for the Bluefly and StyleList America’s Most Stylish Blogger competition kicked off today and we were tasked with creating a look with this red plaid blouse by Priorities.

I immediately knew I wanted to channel Seattle street casual style and add in a little New York City edge with the thigh high boots. What’s different this time around was that I had the opportunity to have my photo snapped by Adam, the talented street style photographer behind the lens of 21 Arrondissement. He happened Read the rest of this entry »
AMSB Challenge #1: The Boyfriend Vest
The first challenge from Bluefly and StyleList for America’s Most Stylish Blogger is the boyfriend vest and voting has officially kicked off! I included my submission below for reference. You can vote on the widget to the right by entering your email address, which will automatically enroll you in the $1000 shopping spree drawing. You can also vote on Bluefly, StyleList and the America’s Most Stylish Blogger Facebook page. I hope you like my style choice and thanks in advance for your support!
Psst…Kelly Cutrone is the celeb judge this week. She didn’t like my look but once I found out she was the judge, I didn’t think she would. In her words, “wayyyy too much”, but what can I say, I like accessories. Watch the video on StyleList to hear what she said about all the contestants!

Whether a rocking an oversized blazer or stealing a boyfriend’s tie, I’ve been known to integrate menswear into my wardrobe from time to time. When tasked by Bluefly Read the rest of this entry »
Clutch Look: Craving Structure & Lace
As I’m wrapping up the rest of my New York Fashion Week coverage with pretty bows, I wanted to share a quick outfit post to keep things flowing. I got to spend time with Geri from Because I’m Addicted during fashion week and was completely inspired by a vintage lace blazer she sported with shoulder pads! Talk about modernizing the 80′s, this girl knows how to find amazing pieces!

Without knowing exactly where to look to find something to fulfill the shoulder pad craving, I decided to go to Topshop. Lookey what I found… Read the rest of this entry »
Clutch Looks: Vegas & Heatwave Attire
This summer has provided me nothing short of scorching weather, which includes a trip I took with the boyfriend last month to Las Vegas and the recent Seattle heatwave (record breaking) that made it intolerable to even turn my laptop on, let alone use it, in my non-AC apartment (it gets freakishly hot). Whether you’re headed for desert temperatures like Vegas or want to be prepared for a hot summer day, here are a few go-to looks that have helped me survive the heat without sacrificing style.
Dramatic Accessories + Simple LBD

A simple, lightweight, black dress with a bold necklace is my go-to solution these days. Aside from the shoes, the cost of this look fell under $50!

Celebrating in Style – 26 & the City!
I celebrated my birthday a couple of weeks ago, July 3rd, and was thrilled to have so many friends in the same place; mainly because my time with them is limited given I AM MOVING TO NEW YORK CITY in a little over a month (more deets coming soon)!
I spent over a month looking for the perfect outfit, but nothing really caught my eye, that is, until Seattle indie designer, Jesica Milton, gave me a generous offer I couldn’t refuse. She loaned me an amazing sample that fit like a glove and was exactly the type of look I was going for. Exposed zipper trim…um, perfection!

To “top” things off, the shirt I’m wearing (a gift from Sara) also has an exposed zipper. Check out the back!
I Heart Norwegian Wood Panelled Leggings
My newest wardrobe obsession is a new purchase from the edgy and talented Angie Johnson of I Heart Norwegian Wood. These new handmade leggings have so much personality and allow me to express my style without having to try.

The sequin embellishments weaved into the sheer black sections remind me of one of my favorite trends from NYFW shown in threeASFOUR’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection (see below). I’ve thought about ways to DIY this, but when I saw Angie’s latest leggings concoction, my craving was beyond satisfied.
Clutch Look: If This Dress Could Talk
Summer is quickly approaching and though Seattle weather may not be on the same page, I’ve been slowly vamping up my wardrobe. Here’s a new spring and summer look that requires minimal accessories – the dress has a ton of personality and if it could talk, it’d ask to be worn with these a-m-a-z-i-n-g shoes!

If you’ve been reading my posts lately, it’s clear I’ve been on a major shoe kick (no pun intended). What I love most about these Report Signature shoes is the way they elongate the legs by showing more skin and falling just below the ankle. On top of that, the buckles are adjustable! They are actually on sale right now at Zappos for around $154 from $215.

Clutch Look: Me, Harem? Really?
I never thought I’d give into harem pants, but I found a slightly toned down pair at Forever 21 a couple of weeks ago. They’re sort of a harem-riding-pant hybrid and I bought them a little big because I’m loving the slouchy look right now.

I wore them a few days ago with my new jacket and tee from Zara, and of course, a loud pair of shoes.

Confession: An Unpolished Approach
Whenever I paint, it always ends up on my face, I put eyeshadow on with my fingers, my nails are usually chipped, I always manage to spill hot sauce on clean white shirts and my closet is an absolute disaster.

Aside from my bad luck with hot sauce, the rest can all be attributed to my unpolished approach to art and style. In most cases, the method to my madness is generally embraced, but I can’t help feeling a little self conscious about the chaotic closet. I hate putting things away, especially since sometimes my “getting ready” process involves trying on multiple pieces before settling on a look.
Clutch Look: I Heart Norwegian Wood
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about some of my favorite Etsy designers where I mentioned I was contemplating a caged harness from I Heart Norwegian Wood. I ordered it a few days later and tried it out recently with a fairly simple look.

Angie, the designer, is so sweet and so incredibly talented. I love the edgy spin she incorporates into her designs. Read the rest of this entry »
