As some of you know, I had the treat of walking in a runway show in June for Kaboodle’s five year anniversary celebration, hosted at Internet Week in NYC. This involved working closely with Kaboodle and Bloomingdale’s to create a look inspired by one of the winning style boards in a contest Kaboodle hosted the weeks leading up to the event. Lucky for me, I got to work with one of my favorite style boards (above on the left) designed by Kaboodle user Sarah08Pig (nice work, girl!).

Little black dress, sparkles, lace, pearls…yes please! To make this ultra glam party look work with my own personal style, which is usually a hybrid of two distinct types of looks (e.g. boho-preppy), I decided to go rock and roll with hair and make-up. Faux hawk, dark and dramatic eyes and a pale lip. You can find out all the details about my outfit from Kaboodle here.

This was one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten to do as a blogger and I will be forever grateful to Kaboodle for giving me the opportunity. Special thanks to Bloomingdale’s for providing the fabulous looks, the Kaboodle style team (especially Maria) for helping us create the looks and Paul Labrecque Salon & Spa for providing hair and make-up. Also, shout-out to Lauren for giving me the rocker faux hawk!

Last but not least, thanks to KSA, Jenn, Jordan, Maeve, Julie, Lizzie, Andrea, Amy, Dina, Kat, Kristin and everyone else who cheered me on when I stepped foot on the runway. You knocked the fear right out of me.

Congrats to Amy Chandra of Midtown Girl and the launch of her new venture, Socialista New York. The meet-up group aims to create fun girls-night-out experiences by bringing together brands and bloggers in the city.

To kick things off, Ugg Australia hosted a gorgeous evening at the company’s showroom Terrace overlooking Fifth Ave in Manhattan. Guests were treated to manis, pedis, Ugg Australia flip flops (cute and comfy), treats and tasty cocktails (like the Dirty Socialista featured above – champagne and muddled berries).

Hi friends, I have an exciting update to share! Next week at Internet Week New York on June 7, Kaboodle is putting on the first ever crowd-sourced fashion show in partnership with Bloomingdales called the Fab @ Five Fête & Fashion Show. The looks have been selected based on a styleboard contest a few weeks back AND the “models” are all media and bloggers including yours truly! I am beyond honored to be among the group, which I’ll share more about in an upcoming post.

As a side note, I’m totally terrified. I already have a repuation for falling down…a lot…so the thought of a runway in heels sounds like the perfect storm to showcase my clumbsiness in front of a live audience. That said, if I do fall, at least I’ll do it in superior style thanks to Kaboodle and Bloomies!

In case you haven’t played on Kaboodle.com before, here’s a little background: the Hearst owned social shopping site is the largest on the web with more than 1.5 million users and aims to make online shopping easier and more fun. This event is to celebrate the five year anniversary and unveil a brand new redesign of the site.

I have my fitting this week and between now and the show, you know I’ll be practicing my stiletto strut around my apartment.

A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft showed off their latest goodies for the holiday season at their annual Open House event. Complete with lavendar infused cocktails, mac and cheese amazingness and an Xbox KINECT interactive play area, front and center was the official launch of Windows Phone 7. They had a special video station on site and I took advantage of the opportunity to steal a few moments with my buddy Brian Seitz from Microsoft (and Cold Pavement). If you’ve been following my posts, you might recall I used to do PR for the Windows Phone account at my last firm, hence one of the enablers of fashion + tech becoming a sweet spot for me. I knew Windows Phone 7 was going to be impressive, but this was my first time seeing the final product and wow!

The photo features are probably my fav – it cuts out steps to make sharing and posting easier. One of the tiny things that got me was the “running late” button enabled through the Microsoft Office Mobile calendar. If you run late a lot like me, you can open a meeting and send an auto heads up email with one touch!

I clearly have a bias in the same way you root for your sports teams even if you move to a different city. So with that, I will only suggest you check it out for yourself when it hits store November 8. Devices will be available from AT&T and T-Mobile from brands like HTC, Samsung and LG (more info here). On Friday, I received a Sony Bloggie with a post-it note attached that read “Play me! – KC.” I turned it on to find the following from Kenneth Cole inviting my social network to join his at a private dinner he is hosting tonight in his showroom!
