The second muse in my “sketched” series is the lovely Yuli Ziv of My It Things, Style Coalition, Fashion 2.0 and a well-known social media maven in NYC, among other things.Those who saw my Gala Darling inspired sketch a couple months ago will know I’m slowly getting back into art. So far, I’ve only been using water color pencils on sketch paper (as opposed to stretched water color paper plastered to a wooden board, which is how you’re supposed to do it to avoid shriveled paper).

More playing with water color pencils…I’m so in love with Gala Darling’s Twitter picture, I decided to use it for inspiration. What do you think? I’m definitely still a little rusty (especially with hands) and still getting the hang of water color pencils. It’s hard for me not to be critical, but the only thing that makes me think ”Jordie, you’re done…put down the pencils,” is knowing that imperfections are almost unavoidable with water color. I’ve always had a deep passion for painting and illustrating (basically, anything art), but it’s been years since the last time I got out my sketchbook. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a set of water-color pencils and have been experimenting. I’m hoping I can make this fit into my life again. Still super rusty, but excited to do more.

Any suggestions for inspiration? I usually have some sort of inspiration, but this was a spontaneous, practice-sort-of piece.
